Five Star Debut Novel

Beneath the Layers (Beneath the Layers, #1)Beneath the Layers by Mia Rivers

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing debut novel from Mia Rivers. As the synopsis tells you, Tara has a secret, a big one, and wait until you find out what it is. I was itching to know the secret the whole time I was reading while simultaneously wanting to punch and steal her hot boss. I spent most of the book guessing, and I was still surprised when the big reveal came.

These characters were smart and relatable with differences that ran so deep, I felt like I knew them. In every way Alex was lacking, Tara had Nick to make up for it. I also loves Tara’s girl time and how it showed her personality in a different light.

Over all, this story was intriguing and sexy, and I couldn’t get enough…can’t get enough. I can’t wait for the next book especially since this one leaves you hanging with the biggest reveal yet. While the story is complete, a little cliffhanger is thrown in at the end to set up the

next book. Now I am dying to know what happens while being completely satisfied with part 1.

Fake Boobs

Fake BoobsFake Boobs by Ryan Ringbloom

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

And Ryan Ringbloom thinks we all have it. Tori broke my heart with her body issues and blending in. She’s the perfect representation of the insecure girl that lives inside most women. On the flip side was Grant, so sure of himself until he let his heart takeover. I felt every moment of their journeys. Relatable and convincing, these characters were my friends from high school, college, and now. They represented people we all know in a story that breaks your heart then puts it back together. I laughed out loud. I cried a few tears. I even blogged about this book. This is one you need to read. Be prepared for it to stick with you long after you read “The End.”

Books, Blogs, & RealityBooks, Blogs, & Reality by Ryan Ringbloom

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When we try to create fantasy in our reality, does it ever measure up? Ryan Ringbloom does it again with her unique, four POV style. I loved every one of these women and connected with their stories in different ways. From the first page I found myself laughing out loud and sympathizing with their stories. Each voice was so unique, it was like it was written by four different women. In a wonderful story of love and friendship, Ryan shows us that sometimes reality can be better than what the novels tell us.

This book was a quick read for me because I couldn’t put it down. I had to know what came next for each character. At the end of each chapter, I wanted to skip ahead to see what happened with that character, but I also needed to know what was going on with the others. I devoured it in one sitting. It is different than your typical romance, but it has everything I love from a good novel. Books, Blogs, and Reality is no doubt a five star read.

Unlikely VentureUnlikely Venture by Kristen Luciani

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unlikely Venture has everything I love about romance. Jessica is the perfect protagonist with the right amount of flaw paired with even more fight. She is fun and sassy in her killer high heels, a girl after my own heart. MS isn’t stopping this chick from going after what she wants. The question isn’t really what she wants though. It’s who she wants.

Jessica has the horrible luck of having two hot men after her. I felt so sorry for her. Yeah right! I was torn between Paul and James until they showed their true colors. The rest of the book had me on edge fearing a cliffhanger ending. Needless to say, I couldn’t put the book down because I needed to know everything would be right in Jessica’s world.

Ms. Luciani has hit a home run with her first novel. I cannot wait for the rest of this series. These characters have stayed with me, and I need to know they get the HEA as well.

Count On Me (Count On Me #1)Count On Me by Melyssa Winchester

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this series out of order, so I already had an idea of the havoc Amy could cause. It didn’t make reading it any easier. These characters were so well written that every heartbreaking moment was like it was happening to my best friend. I loved Belle. She was beautiful and deep. I was right there with her throughout he whole story. Kayden was the same. Even when I was supposed to hate him, I couldn’t. The way he grew and changed was perfection.

As a teacher I want to believe these kinds of things don’t happen, but you never know what students are carrying around with them. I loved how Ms. Taylor was there for everyone without being too intrusive. In fact, one of my favorite moments was when Kayden realized teachers have a sense of humor.

I read this book in a day because I couldn’t put it down and couldn’t wait to get the next book to find out what happens with Dillon. He really let me down in this book, so I can only hope he has a redeeming moment in the next. I love that moment when characters turn their lives around, and this book was full of them.
